- Are you a Realtor®? Hire a Realtor – not just a real estate agent.
- FULL-TIME Realtor®? Part-timers may not always be there when you need them.
- What areas do you service?
- What properties have you listed or sold?
- What is your sales track record?
- Do you have a list of references?
- What methods of advertising do you utilize?
- Which web sites will you use to advertise my property?
- What marketing plan will you use to sell my home?
- Will you be present at the closing? Yes, most Realtors will be there start to finish.
- What Multiple Listing Service do you use? (MRIS for the Wash DC Metropolitan Area)
- Will they explain and disclose agency Relationships? If no, then stop, drop and run – They are bound by law to disclose their agency role right from the start.
- Will they explain all documentation and paperwork? You need to understand what you are signing.
An agent should not try to convince you to overprice your home just to get you to sign up with their services. If the price of the house is too high for the neighborhood, statistics prove these houses will remain listed and unsold. These homes stay on the market longer and end up selling for less than those that were priced more competitively from the start.
